Srebrenica is our last stronghold. We cannot and will not leave it!

Speaking to those who best understand him, his Srebrenicans and Podrinjians, Camil Durakovic, president of the Organizing Committee, today in Potocari said that 11 July is a holy day, and Potocari a holy place, and told Srebrenicans to hold on to the dignity that they have had all these years and that they were never disgraced, despite the fact that they were humiliated around the world.

He especially greeted founder and president of the Appeal to Conscience Foundation Arthur Schneier, a man who himself survived the Holocaust.

"Before us in these coffins lies an entire world. Only today do we return to everyone their identity, name and surname, from it. For all of us here today they once again become people, and cease to be unknown unidentified remains. We did not embed unidentified remains, but rather our fathers, brothers and sisters," Durakovic said, according to Fena.

At the time they were killed, neither their personal faith nor their ideology was important, because they were killed for what they were born with.

"So today and among us here there is no difference, neither between them or between those who still preserve the achievements of those, our dearest families, who were killed in the genocide without any mercy from May 1992 to July 1995. Srebrenica was then a haven for those who could not go anywhere else nor even seek refuge," Durakovic said.

He pointed out that we defend today the world that lies before us.

"Our presence here says the most about us, our beliefs and values, what we are and whether we are ready for them, who gave the most, that we do something, anything. We are here because we believe in justice, we trust in the truth and we await freedom," Durakovic said.

He concluded that Srebrenica is our last fortress, a place from which we cannot and will not leave. So he used this opportunity and asked those present to never leave the victims of Srebrenica, as their own children.
