Today the priority is entrance into NATO
The central ceremony marking 20 years since the formation of the RBiH Army and the seventh anniversary of the Second Ranger Infantry Regiment of BiH's Armed Forces was organized in the municipality Foca-Ustikolina in the presence of numerous guests and the Chairman of BiH's Presidency Bakir Izetbegovic.
The ceremony of marking the seventh anniversary of the formation of this unit and the 20th anniversary of RBiH's Army started with the submission of a report to Izetbegovic in the circle of barracks of the BiH Armed Force Second Ranger Infantry Regiment in the municipality Foca-Ustikolina,. It was created in a tough period in order for a short time and became a respectable military force that has defended the sovereignty and independence of BiH.
"The army was made from the determination and resolve of BiH's citizens to jointly keep the most valued creation of BiH's society, coexistence of her all citizens, and it will continue to be remembered that it was created in the toughest moments of its country, fighting for its integrity and independence", AFBiH's commander of the Infantry Regiment Brigadier Ferid Mazalovic pointed out.
Chairman of BiH's Presidency Bakir Izetbegovic addressed congratulations to the organizers of resistance in the toughest years in BiH's history, years of killings, temptation, and determination, but also the time in which the honor of the army was preserved.
"Today I said that we have to show two types of readiness - one is to defend our homeland and never let these circumstances, that we had 20 years ago, happen again, to be prepared to defend it. The second readiness is turning to the future, not forgetting the past and to make prosperous our country, integrated in the Atlantic structures and the state, which guarantees to its citizens a better future", Izetbegovic said.
The priority of BiH and its citizens is entrance into NATO and fulfilling the requirements that precede that act. At the ceremony it was said that Bosnia and Herzegovina have to use the chance that is offered for its own future.
Modern armed forces
"I wish for the Armed Forces to become modern and equipped, trained and compatible to NATO standards and for BiH to join EU integrations as soon as possible. Today we are on a very important, quality, good and optimistic path when it comes to the approach of NATO", Minister of Defense of BiH Muhamed Ibrahimovic said.
Numerous representatives from politics, religious and cultural life and representatives of embassies in BiH also attended the ceremony and cultural-entertainment program that was prepared as well.
