The goal is association and easier placement of products on the market, said Ahmet Egrlić, president of the Foreign Trade Chamber at yesterday's press conference in Sarajevo, where he, among other things, presented the strategic plan for the development of the organic sector.
"Through the organization of organic producers, we will secure an easier access to global markets, which is increasingly demands such products. Through participation in numerous exhibitions and forums, we realized that the demand for organic products from BiH is very high, and that this type of production is very promising for our region when we look at unpolluted land, water resources, air..." Egrlić said.
According to Sejad Herceg, president of the "Organic FBiH" association, the application of the recently enacted law on organic production in the BiH Federation supports the further development of organic farming that through the implementation of the Strategic Plan should ensure that people stay in rural areas, and enable stakeholders to actively engage in organic production and consequently also lead to job creation.
"After the passing of the Law, the FBiH ministry of agriculture, water and forestry, is currently working on the establishment of secondary legislation or preparation of regulations for all types of organic production. This sector has huge potential in BiH. Our organic products are available all around the world and there is huge demand for them," said Federation minister Šemsudin Dedić, adding that it is up to the authorities to complete a legal framework and inviting environment for organic producers and customers.
Dedić announced that the Ministry will seek this year to support certification of organic products through the co-financing of issuing these certificates.
"Also, I expect that after the adoption of by-laws, organic products will be aided through a financial incentive program next year, said Dedić.
