...a draft law banning employment of immediate family members of the president and vice presidents of FBiH and members of the FBiH government in public bodies.
As a Nasa Stranka statement reads, currently there are legal provisions on abuse of office and conflict of interest, but the same is not specified sufficiently in this field.
"The aim of the law I am proposing is to supplement and guarantee the implementation of sanctions for abuse of office, and to establish a political culture in which officeholders will not even think to use their office for the personal interests of their loved ones. If someone says that 'regulations already exist,' as a counterargument I offer the reality that obviously isn't regulated with these current regulations and new ones are required, because corruption has metastasized so much that it becomes transparent," says Gratz.
His proposal provides punishment of offenders with a fine between 50,000 and 100,000 KM for responsible persons who give a job, and between 25,000 and 50,000 KM for those who receive a job. Gratz says that the law does not introduce any discrimination but rather aims to abolish the existing.
The purpose of the law, Gratz says, is to strengthen the credibility of institutions, increase public confidence in them, and create conditions to develop society, the statement reads, Fena reports.
