reconsider his attendance of the Banja Luka celebration for the RS National Day Celebration.
“Mr. Nikolić is expected in Sarajevo in February. When it comes to visiting Banja Luka, I would like to publicly ask him to reconsider the matter. He is always welcome here, but for the sake of the better relations we all vow to, he needs to consider the facts,” said Izetbegović, Fena reports.
He added that the BiH Constitutional Court abolished January 9 as a holiday.
“The Constitutional Court abolished January 9 as the RS National Day. In the appeal, but also in the opinion of the Venice Commission, which is the expert advisory body to the Council of Europe, it has been found that it is a discriminatory holiday. No one has anything against the RS and the fact that it celebrates the day of its formation, but it should not be on a day that insults other people in that entity - Izetbegović said.
He states that Nikolić should not "stand on the side with something that discriminates against anyone in this country."
“I would applaud his coming on another day, and that he does not join a celebration that will hurt anyone in BiH,” said Izetbegović.
