Among those who supported sexist comments from an official of the BiH Presidency, Dženan Selimbegović, was also the BiH ambassador to Australia. That is why we asked His Excellency two questions, to clarify our concerns about the foreign policy of our country. Fortunately, the ambassador sent an elaborate response, admitting that he only supports sexist attitudes in private!
We quickly published our correspondence, still unsure how our Ambassadors have the right to privately hold sexist and misogynistic opinions, which we naturally inquired about with the BiH Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We are still awaiting a response from the Ministry.
As a reminder, Ambassador Hajrić supported Selimbegović in a fierce debate that emerged after the latter insulted female journalists Sanela Prašović and Arijana Saračević Helać.
"I can already imagine them and who they are," Ambassador Hajrić wrote, commenting on Selimbegović's lewd insults against these journalists.
Here is the letter of congratulations the Ambassador sent to Oslobođenje's journalist after we published his response.
"Congratulations to Alena, who without contacting me first and asking for my permission to publish my private opinion, and before explaining the reason for her interest, published it."
What to say? His letter of congratulations is published in its entirety, with a small note: There should not be a dilemma on whether the questions we sent to His Excellency should be published.
